Well it is the end of the year afterall! 2012 for me was a year of experimentation, trying new things and learning. Not all has been successful, but hopefully I can use this new found knowledge to good effect in 2013. The biggest change in 2012 was a move to home developed film. This meant a massive overhaul in gear, losing all my digital gear in favour of an Olympus OM film system. That turned out to be a bit of a mistake, and I’m now back with a DSLR as well, though film is still one of my main passions in photography.
Locations have been varied over the year but for a change I’ve done a lot more work close to home. Quarries haven’t featured as highly as I would have liked, the weather always seemed to be against me on my days off, compounded by a broken ankle in October which effectively ended the photography season. This gave time to reflect on things, process some old images and get to grips with organising my expanding collection, as well as launch a revamp of my website.
Changes didn’t just happen in locations – 2012 saw me photographing a lot more people than usual, with events being attended to around North Wales, including the Wales Rally GB and the Ffestiniog Railway’s Quarrypower and Classic Ffestiniog Galas.
So what can we expect in 2013? Well hopefully more photos! I also want to try and get to a lot more quarries than just Dinorwig! Saying that though there is still so much more to see in Dinorwig, it may well start there again! I’m also working with some surfing friends, so there may well be a bit more of that sneaking in too. I guess probably the best I can say is watch this space!
Some stunning photographs from 2012 there, look forward to reading the blog in 2013!
Cheers Andy, so am I!
